Canadian Artists' Representation
CARFAC (Canadian Artists' Representation / le Front des Artistes Canadiens) was founded in 1968 and is a national, non-profit organization of professional visual artists whose objectives are to help visual artists in the practice of their profession, to improve the status of visual artists and to promote the visual arts. CARFAC has achieved endorsement of the principle of fair compensation through payment of fees to artist when their works are shown in public galleries. CARFAC works on artists' behalf on areas under federal jurisdiction taxation (income tax and GST), international relations and trade (export of art works), customs regulations and health and safety for artists.
